Section 1328(f) Screening Results
Anonymized records of 316 cases where the statutory discharge bar under 11 U.S.C. § 1328(f) applied. Each row includes the district, filing year, prior chapter, gap between filings (days), bar type, and outcome (discharged, dismissed, or pending). No case numbers or names.

Prior-Filer Discharge Rates by District
For each district: the total Chapter 13 caseload, the number of identified prior filers (debtors who previously filed bankruptcy), the prior-filing rate, and the discharge rate among those prior filers. Districts with zero prior filers identified are included for completeness.

National Filing Statistics (FJC)
Aggregate case counts by chapter (7, 11, 12, 13), year (2008–2025), and district. Derived from the Federal Judicial Center Integrated Database. Useful for trend analysis, cross-district comparisons, and normalization of other metrics.

District Bankruptcy Timelines (v1)
How long cases take, district by district. For all 94 districts plus a national row, the 25th percentile, median, and 75th percentile number of days from petition to outcome. Chapter 7 measures filing to standard discharge for cases filed in fiscal years 2019 through 2023. Chapter 13 measures filing to case closing among discharged cases filed in fiscal years 2015 through 2019, cohorts old enough to have almost fully resolved. Every row carries its own counts: cases filed, cases still pending, and cases measured. Cells with fewer than 30 measured cases keep their counts but publish no quantiles. Derived from the Federal Judicial Center Integrated Database snapshot of filings through December 31, 2025.
Read this before quoting a median. Each timeline covers only the cases that finished the way the column says. Dismissed, converted, and still-open cases are not in it. In most Chapter 13 cohorts more cases are dismissed than discharged, and those dismissals usually come earlier. A median here describes completed cases. It is not a forecast for a new filing. The file publishes counts and durations only, so dividing one column by another does not reproduce the Chapter 13 discharge or dismissal percentages published elsewhere on this site.

Bankruptcy Filings by District and State, 2024-2025
Monthly and annual counts of cases filed in calendar 2024 and 2025, by chapter at filing, for 93 districts, 54 states and territories, and the nation. The Northern Mariana Islands recorded no filings in either year, so it has no rows. Data runs through December 31, 2025. The derived national total for 2025 is 575,052 filings. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts published 574,314 for the same year, a difference of 0.13%. Most of that gap is intra-district transfer records, and the README walks through the reconciliation.
Counts only. Nothing in this file is a rate, and none of it is the denominator behind the Chapter 13 percentages published elsewhere on this site. Chapter is the chapter at filing, so a case filed under Chapter 13 and later converted to Chapter 7 counts as a Chapter 13 filing.

Data derived from the Federal Judicial Center Integrated Database, CourtListener RECAP archive, and PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records). Case-level records are aggregated to district level; individual identifiers are stripped before export.
